Great oysters (when the Galveston jumbos are in), but really good all other times! Nice cold-beer choices too. The place has a 'local beach joint' feel that we like. Fun wait-staff, cold beer, and $9-per-dozen oysters makes it hard to beat. We'll frequent Hurricane Oyster Bar at least twice during each vacation every year.

The oysters were phenomenal. I ate three dozen. But my burger was anything but. I mean, edible, but not great. Our server was awesome. He took great care of us. Didn't forget a thing.

Meh, exactly. We originally planned to eat out in Seaside for lunch, but being a Saturday of a long weekend it was crazy in town, so we decided to venture a little further to the Hurricane Oyster Bar. It was a cozy little bar, being happy hour I decided to order wine for $2 off, and my boyfriend got a beer. This was the highlight of lunch. My boyfriend ordered the fried catfish basket, complete with the fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw, only his came minus the coleslaw. He might've been able to point this out if the bartender ever came to check on us once our food was delivered. When his food arrived and he was barely picking at the catfish, catfish being his favorite meal of all time, I knew something was wrong. I tried one of the fries and what I got was limp, cold, and undercooked. After we left the restaurant, I asked what was going on with his lunch? The catfish wasn't breaded in the normal cornmeal mixture, but rather a flour based breading which fell off from the fish and the hushpuppies could've been dessert they were so sweet. His words exactly were "well at least the beer was delicious".... My grilled chicken was alright, the grits were barely lukewarm but at least I was able to eat mine. Either way, with all the great dining in the area, this is not somewhere we will try again.

Food was delicious. If the service wasn't so horrendous, I would've given them a much better review. Rude doesn't even cut it. We couldn't manage to get two glasses of water or another beer. Waited nearly an hour for a check with no sign of our waitress (there was only one other table) before we left cash on the table. Not worth the aggravation.

Casual, sort of funky atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, attentive wait staff. Does an extraordinary job with special events. Recently attended a rehearsal dinner for 100 or more folks, and the food was just outstanding -- lobster tacos, smoked prime rib and grouper in a beurre blanc sauce were great hits. Later in the weekend we hosted a brunch for the same crowd -- breakfast foods (spinach frittata, gouda grits, pecan crusted french toast) were equally excellent. Great price, great staff and service.

We were in grayton beach for our first time coming from chicago. We tried out Hurricane on a monday and we went everyday for the whole week. Awesome oysters - Cheap Beer - Awesome staff. We made friends w Brock the bartender and the shucker w the beard. Both hilarious and made us feel right at home. Will go back to Grayton Beach just for the Hurricane Oyster bar we all decided. Keep up the great work and c ya next year!

Kind of off the beaten path in a little shopping village place in Grayton Beach on the other side of 30-A from the beach. Anywhoosiers, it's a wonderful place, they have the BEST beer prices in town, especially at happy hour which is from like 4-6? But they have great oysters as well and many different kinds. They have a dive'y beach bar feel which makes it all more inviting. Lunch is ideal there, and the porch is a wonderful place to sit at night or day. The fried shrimp is great as well.

We found this place last year while camping at Grayton Beach. I can't say enough about it. Great oysters, good beer and the happy hour prices outstanding. We ended up going there every night @ Happy Hour. Couldn't buy the oysters and shuck them myself for less and we loved the atmosphere. We are currently planning another trip. And are planning part of the trip around the Hurricane Oyster Bar. That's how much we like it. I can only hope it stays open since our favorite place on the west coast (Kinda Lahina Bar & Grill) closed a few days before we got there earlier this year. Anywho! My wife and I very highly recommend this place.

Gem and jewel reoccur in these reviews, and rightly so. Fast, friendly service. Great oysters at a great price! Many varieties of grilled, baked, and broiled oysters, try them all! Drinks are tasty if a bit weak (I think most drinks these days are, is that bad?). Shrimp tacos, hurricane debris nachos get good reviews from the girls. My sandwich was only very good.

  • J E.

Food tasted ok but was cold due to inefficient waitress staff. I ordered before other tables of two, but got my food last. No one ever asked "how was everything"

seriosuly worst place ive ever eating. oyster bar with no oysters... jesus. we served ourselves more than we were served. took over and hour and a half for 3 simple apitizers. waiter was a smart ass and if i ever went back it would be to burn the damn place down for the good of the community.

Not too sure about this place when we arrived - in a little strip mall with no view of anything other than a little swamp and the road.

  • Lindsey M.

great laid back and reasonable spot! We are losing places like this by the second around this area and it is refreshing to have such good food at good prices. If you like oysters don't miss this spot. They also have yummy fish tacos and I have heard great reviews of their fried oyster nachos. Good food at a good value!

  • Pam F.

This place did not disappoint. We were promptly seated outside by request. Large picnic style table, fans blowing, football game on, great night time ambiance. Probably would be so much fun late afternoon as well!!! Our waitress was happy to tell us all about the local favorites since we'd never been in before. Upon her recommendation----we had the chargrilled oysters, the trio of tacos and the crab cake po-boy. Do yourself a solid and try the coconut corn fritters. The perfect mix of sweet and fried goodness. Everything tastes delightful. Kids meals are big enough for 2 kids to split, come with 2 sides!! 2 of my tacos were cold----waitress promptly replaced them and even brought an extra lobster taco too!! Very pleased and will definitely go back.

We just had a wonderful family meal at Hurricane. It wasn't a problem to seat our party of 11, after just a 30 minute wait on a Sunday evening. They have a decent draft beer selection and the oysters were wonderful! The tuna dip and crab claws are some seriously good appetizers. Several people at the table had the soup of the day, a crab and lobster bisque, and it was incredible. Really though, it was an emotional experience. I had the fried shrimp basket and while it was wonderful, I was really jealous when someone else at the table ordered the shrimp and grits and they looked AWESOME. I heard from the rest of the table that the lobster tacos and crab cake po boy were great, too. My only complaints would be that our waiter was quite pushy about what was good and what we should order based on his recommendations. Everything was great in the end, though. And they only accept cash or checks. Not ideal, so plan in advance. Everything else about this place makes it the perfect, divey bar and seafood restaurant that you want when you're at the beach!

  • Stefani D.

Food was very average, nothing really special. Comparable to an Ale House. Party I was with enjoyed their fried shrimp but everything else was very sweet. The coleslaw was sweet, the cucumber salad was sweet, the corn nuggets were sweet and the grilled chicken was sweet (though I ordered the sauce on the sides in hopes it would be a little less so.) the restaurant wasn't bad, but it definitely left something to be desired. Great place to bring kids though, the outdoor patio was very nice.

  • R H.

This was my favorite new spot of this trip. We dined here our last night in town. Good mix of locals and tourist. Everyones food was delicious. I had some salad with Hearts of palm and pickled cucumbers that was awesome. Only complaint, the scallops on the grits were a little antiseptic tasting. I'm not saying they had been tainted, I'm just saying they tasted a little off. The grits were top notch. Drinks were stiff. Oysters were great raw and the mexican baked. cocktail sauce was nothing to write home about, but the horseradish was great(so you can tweek the sauce).

  • Jessica M.

Good bang for your buck here on 30A. Nice covered outdoor seating by a little lily pad pond. CASH OR CHECK ONLY-- but there is an ATM inside. Food is pretty good. Have peanuts to munch on while you wait at tables. Have options for flour or corn tortillas. The fritters are a great side.

(also published to my food blog with many more photos) Hurricane Oyster Bar and Grill is located at 37 Logan Ln, Grayton Beach, FL 32459 at the end of a line of buildings in a small shopping center. Parking is along the street or within a couple of small lots - the sign is a bit hard to see but worthwhile, especially during happy hour. I've been going to Hurricane's a couple of seasons now - last year we were told by some locals that it was a good spot for Oysters and a frequent location for local residents. This seems to be true as there weren't many of us tourists there in September 2014 (when I last visited) or September 2013. This is very much a bar with dark halls, spirits and beer taps. I could see it being my weekly after-work hangout. I think the best time to go is early afternoon to take advantage of the happy hour. Oysters are also discounted during that time at about a buck apiece. The tables in the enclosed patio are picnic-style with holes for a bucket (to both hold and discard the free shelled peanuts, of course). Enjoy your goober-peas and kick back to a nice ale - I'm a big fan of both the Bell's Two Hearted IPA and the Lagunitas IPA - on my last visit I had one of each. Some of the others with me enjoyed the margritas. The menu is fairly extensive with many seafood, sandwich and snaky options. I've heard that the fish tacos and wings were quite good. Of course, I come here for one thing only, the oysters. These are seasonal (but for the most part they always have them) and locally caught. Last season they were really exceptional - very large and juicy. This season not-so-much and a bit on the smallish side. Service tends to be exceptional with very attentive bartenders and servers. As with most of the local-to-30A restaurants and drinking establishments, they only take cash so make sure you bring enough for that 3rd round! I'll be coming back.

We stopped in here for lunch from a family friend suggestion. This place is not too bad, but I would go other places first. We had oysters to start, then we all got the fish tacos with blackened grouper. Several of our fish had the bones in it, which is part of the process of eating fish, but just be aware so you don't choke on a fish bone! It was flavorful and you expect blackened fish to have a kick, but my aunt couldn't handle the heat, too spicy for her. I am more of lover of a fantastic fish with good flavor, but not having the spices overpower the fish. As for the Gouda infused grits for the side, the waitress said these were the top seller for sides, personally my grandmothers cheese grits are better, but I could be biased. The key lime pie was fantastic and I was sure hoping it would be, I haven't had a bad key lime pie in this area yet, wish I had ordered my own slice! The waitress was very kind. Also this is a cash and check place only, very casual and loud, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Shops surround the restaurant so at night when it's busy you have things to occupy your time with.

Had oysters, chowder and grits, it was great and priced right! Good atmosphere. I would give them a 5 but service was slow, although we will for sure return, food and atmosphere is worth the wait! We have returned again for lunch had the grouper BLT it was great and came with a large portion of fries, service was lots better this time ! Eat outside by the pond there is a small alligator that is hanging out! There was a family there with kids that was an extra treat for them. Do not remove the alligator good business attraction!

  • Patty C.

One of our favorites - I absolutely love it here! The menu is fun, the atmosphere is funky, service is awesome and it's off the beaten path. Since it takes a while to travel to most places during peak season, you may as well spend the extra minutes going to Grayton Beach. Best Crab and Lobster Bisque - seriously, one of the best soups ever. My daughter raves about the Chipotle wings, my son loves the ribeye, the hubby the lobster tacos and me? I got the shrimp and grits which were southernly delicious. ;) Great happy hour prices on beer, too!

  • De F.

Nice little place to stop and grab a meal. Sit outside and look at the water/fountain while you eat. Coconut corn fritters ROCK! Yum! Lobster tacos were delicious too. Service was prompt and friendly.

  • Rebekah P.

Great little dive off the beaten path in the middle of nowhere. We had one dozen raw oysters with fresh horseradish, which were awesome! They're a bit overpriced unless you hit happy hour, so go after 3. My boyfriend had the lobster tacos, which were ok at best, and overpriced. The saving grace of the day was my shaved ribeye quesadilla that was so tasty and only $6! Amazing. The service is fantastic, the food came out fast and the atmosphere is on point for a beach dive. They don't accept credit cards, which is a major downer, so being your cash or checks.

  • Shilpa H.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere!! Must visit. Had the shrimp and oyster basket - large portion and very good! Also, got the lobster tacos which I read were very good but liked them just okay. A little spicy for my taste. Overall, a very good place! Would recommend - 2 thumbs up!

Great oysters - very fresh! We stopped by with the kids for our oyster fix at lunch. A bit disappointed in the slow service and over cooked steak... Would go back for the raw and fried oysters but only if we weren't in any hurry!

    (3)
  • Josh W.

Try the Jerk Chicken Sandwich or the Grayton Salad. Great atmosphere. Fun place. Service is fantastic. Food is really good. Prices are very reasonable. You won't be disappointed...we frequently eat there. Only con - it's $$$ ONLY...but they do have an ATM ( w a fee of course).

    (4)
  • Robert R.

I had the shrimp and grits. They were outstanding. However summer time is way to hot to get put out on the patio area.

    (4)
  • J C.

Good price. Good atmosphere. Good food. I Ordered 1 shrimp, 1 fish, & 1 lobster taco with the corn fritters.

    (4)
  • Kevin S.

The shrimp and oyster basket was great! But... They weren't busy w/ several tables open, but they still made us wait for 30mins to be seated, then we had to wait well over an hour for the food. Food was great, but not worth having to wait 1:30 for the food.

    (3)
  • Beth P.

The fried green tomatoes were awesome. I ordered the shrimp and grits, the grits were okay, I didn't really care for the red sauce though. My husband enjoyed the fried oysters. Good atmosphere, good service, nice prices. Daiquiris were on spot!

    (4)
  • Ann F.

Great range of seafood to choose from. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. The gouda cheese grits and lobster crab bisque were delicious! Would definitely come back or recommend to a friend. Don't forget to bring cash or checkbook, though...no credit cards accepted.

  • Leah M.

Food and service were great. Recommend blackened grouper sandwich. Lobster tacos are made with Caribbean lobster - my bad.

    (4)
  • Keny H.

Bad service. Oysters were very small. Cash only. Not a good experience. I remember when they were located at Seaside and they are much better. This was a big disappointment. Way overpriced

  • Carmen S.

We ate here with the very picky kid eaters, and they were big fans of the popcorn shrimp. They gave the kids a ton of shrimp, and the shrimp were excellent. My husband had the fried fish basket and said it was the best fried fish he'd had in quite sometime. I had grilled fish tacos, which was also quite good. The cucumber salad was light but quite tasty. They only take cash, so be prepared for that, but lunch time seems like a nice, quiet time to be there. We'll be back!

    (4)
  • Tim C.

Casual atmosphere. Stellar service. The food is consistently great! A hidden gem on 30A.

    (5)
  • Dan Kerri P.

We go here at least once each week. Great happy hour from 3-6 pm each day. Recommend the ribeye quesadilla and smoked wings! Cant beat the prices and the staff is uber friendly.

  • Daniel B.

We will be going back tomorrow. Food was delicious, service was very good, and had a very laid-back atmosphere. Party of 8 was very happy, and took home a key lime pie! A little more expensive that I thought it would be, but I've been thinking about the food ever since. Great place for family and kids.

    (4)
  • Brent W.

Great joint... Awesome beach food. The kind of place that locals flock to. Great crab claws and even better oysters. They even have a new cut on hush puppies - corn and coconut fritters. A little off the beaten path, as it is not on the beach, but worth coming to.

    (4)
  • T H.

The real deal - fried shrimp, oysters on the half and served to perfection. We were given a tip to come here by some locals and it is excellent! We will return.

  • Leigh B.

Stopped in for an oyster and beer beach break. Cool atmosphere. Around the World Oysters were delicious. Server was friendly and attentive. Could hang out here for hours. Prices were very reasonable. Hope to go back before we leave and try lobster tacos.

  • Phillip N.

The Oysters Rockefeller were fantastic. The beer was great. And so were the lobster tacos. You just can't go wrong with any of the choices there. We love hanging out on the patio. Its just a very cool environment... and they have Fat Tire beer! The only reason this joint isn't getting five stars is because of the cash only policy, which is trippy as a lot of places in the area just do not accept cash at all. BUT that said, I love the staff there as they are very nice, and you can expect this to be one of the local joints I hit up when I go on vacation.

    (4)
  • Kim H.

Delicious! Loved everything we ordered. 10 of us, quick service. Lobster tacos with gouda cheese grits! Excellent happy hour prices. Chicken and beef quesadillas and $1 beers. Warning. Tip is included and they only accept cash or check.

Last night my wife and I wanted oysters. They were delicious, but very small. Market price, I was told $13.00 a dozen. I get them in Memphis all the time at $8.00 a dozen. Must have had tourist written on my forehead. Good thing we ordered a salad. Make sure you bring cash. Was not impressed at all. Live and learn.

  • Pamela A.

Ordered the oysters with the crawfish, bacon, cheese and sherry sauce. Very disappointed they were so small with a 1/2 tsp of topping minus the bacon and sherry sauce. If you want a good oyster I would suggest the tin top in Foley. Also ordered the Mahi fish taco. What a joke! The Mahi was the size of a 50 cent piece or less. The tortilla was full of cabbage so if you don't mind spending 12.00 for 2 tortilla's filled with cabbage than go for it. Another person in our party ordered the pulled pork which he said was good. We also noticed some local workers that ordered the pulled pork. So I would say if you stop here stay away from the oysters hence the name hurricane oyster bar and the fish taco's. Stick with the pulled pork.

Food Ok but Drinks are Very Fair Priced. Matter of fact drinks are Cheap especially for a Resort Area. The Rib-eye Quesadillia is pretty good, Oysters are Hit or Miss, this season is not so good this year. Owner is a Texas Fan so they do have Dr. Pepper, mix it with Honey Bourbon or Spiced Rum for a little change of Pace! Inside or Outside Seating, Fun Place to hang with friends to laugh, drink and make some fun memories with them because the food is not memorable.

  • Cj G.

We ate here while staying at Seaside. We tried the Southern Cafe the day before and this place was way better and cheaper. We got boiled peel and eat shrimp: fresh and tasty. Blue crab claws: scrumptious. I tried raw oysters for the first time and they were actually pretty good. I ordered the taco combo plate (shrimp, fish, lobster) and they were amazingly delicious. I also had the coconut corn fritters (a kind of cross between a hush puppy, cornbread, and a coconut muffin) I'm not exaggerating.... BEST HUSH PUPPY I'VE EVER HAD. We sat outside on the porch. The atmosphere was good and the service was great. If you're in the area this place is a must for seafood.

    (5)
  • Renee E.

Best lobster/crab bisque ever! The food was fantastic but remember to take cash as it is an all cash establishment.

    (5)
  • Maggie H.

My fiancee and I always have a lunch date here just for the oysters! We also love the rib-eye quesadillas and the grouper sandwich is huge and awesome! It's a funky beachy spot off of the main path, but we go early for lunch and are always seated immediately! Great staff and cozy feel. The food is yummy and the sweet tea is spectacular...served in huge plastic tumblers and quick on the refills. We love this local hideaway. Find it and enjoy the goodness!

  • Kevin C.

Avoid this place! My daughter ordered the oysters and was sick within an hour. Also, they took forever to seat customers and didn't take credit cards.

    (1)
  • Angela M.

Awesome place! I love the atmosphere, and tucked away from the highway so look for it! Oh man, try the shrimp and grits with smoked Gouda and andouille sausage! Great service, good prices. I was totally impressed--and I let them know I was! Oh, did I mention the Hurricane? Try one!

Happy hour visit a must for best prices. Bar service just ok - really busy during HH. Heads up: cash or check only!

Their food was amazing! Wonderful service. We had fish tacos, gumbo, crab claws, and Rockefeller oysters. Our group was a mixture of adults, teenagers, and little kids. Everyone had a great time dining on the deck watching the young alligator.

Delicious oysters. Terrific lobster bisque. The kids loved sitting beside the pond and watching a baby alligator and some turtles swim around. We will be back.

This place would've gotten five stars if I wasn't hit in the face by a flying coaster. Dear bartender, please keep your customers who can't handle their alcohol on a short leash. Why this place, this weekend, deserves five stars: Whenever we are in the Destin area, we stop here because my husband and I are sports fans and are guaranteed a good view on any game we want to watch. We were watching the Colombia Brazil game and despite our team losing, the customer service was winning. Our server, who had a foreign accent, didn't catch her name and her accent was a distinguishing feature), was pleasant, friendly, and attentive; a far cry from the usual cranky service that is expected during big holidays. The food and drinks were tasty, but it's the service is what was outstanding. Thank you!

Our raw oysters were from Louisiana, not Appalachacola, but were pretty good. My mahi tacos were pretty good too. Cash only.

This is my absolute favorite place to eat in the Seaside/Grayton Beach area. I talk about this place all year and on my annual trip to the area, it's pretty much my first stop. Oysters, oysters, oysters - so many ways. My favorite are the oysters with crawfish. God they are delicious. I love the cozy patio - and their happy hour rocks. On a recent trip, my husband I went twice in two days. It was his first real oyster experience, and he was hooked. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, I just get crazy with the oysters,

Love this restaurant! Will be back every year on our vacation. Gouda grits and coconut corn fritters were amazing. Fried fish sandwich was awesome!! The friendliest service we've had.. Great laid back atmosphere. Great prices too!!

  • Jerry C.

This place looks like it would be a great little find. It wasn't. I had a decent po'boy but my girlfriend's coconut shripm was like bricks. And they don't take credit cards! The atmosphere is great and I love little out of the way dives. But you have to serve decent food. Who eats here in the off season?

    (2)
  • Kalia T.

Really great atmosphere and service! Me being a seafood hater was super happy that they let me order chicken strips off the kids menu. My family said the oysters and shrimp was really good. They said they will difently go again. Only downside was you must have cash or check!! No debit card or credit card but luckily they do have a ATM inside. Also outside seating they have long bench tables and only a few regular tables.

    (4)
  • Greg M.

Nice place overall. Can't complain about raw oysters...they do a fine job! Grilled oysters with garlic and parmesan...way too much cheese to even taste the oysters. Wonderful smoked tuna salad with grilled veggies. Service was good. Bring cash...no credit cards. Funky decor that suits me just fine.

  • Barb B.

We walked over from Grayton Beach State Park. My husband and our friend each had a dozen oysters. My hubby said his were "good". But certainly didn't seem impressed with them. I had the blue cheese & bacon burger. I thought it tasted really yummy. But then a few hours later it started fighting back. And you know when you are retasting your meal, that's not a good sign. . I had to take Pepto Bizmol to get through the night and I'm still not feeling good. :( Sorry I can't give it a better review but when you're not feeling good from something you ate, there's no high stars coming forming this reviewer!

    (1)
  • Marianne S.

On special was an unbelievable crab bisque...we couldn't get enough of it! Also, Daves Inferno hot wings had incredible flavor. I wish I just got 3 orders of those! The entrees were good but nothing amazing like the other two. Can't wait to go for happy hour next time. P.S. Cash only...ATM is inside. I wish places where I want to drink several beers would quit being cash only!

    (3)
  • Kay H.

Sat outside by the tiny pond, awesome service. Happy hour drinks and food hit the spot while watching the games. The food was really good and for this area it was somewhere in Grayton we normal working locals can afford to go. The gouda grits and fried pickles were great. Definitely going back next weekend.

Am kind of at 3.5 stars with the Hurricane. The oysters are for the most part 4 stars and are served ice cold with cocktail sauce, lemon, horseradish. The rest of the things we tried on a couple lunch visits ranged from ok to pretty good. The ok were the fried crab claws and the pretty good was the smoked tuna dip. On our second visit we got the dip to go to have at our rental house for evening cocktail hour snacking. Service was fast and friendly and the beer was ice cold like the oysters. A-OK+ for sure.

Our group of 10(2 kids) went to Hurricane's on our last night of our beach trip in June. We tried to call ahead for a table, but no luck. The host told us they were "slammed", the wait would be 20 minutes. That did not sound slammed to us! While we waited for the table, we had a drink in the bar, the Hurricane was good & potent, lots of beers on tap. Got a great table in the corner, kids got crayons & coloring sheets. Buckets of peanuts on the tables. Loved the menu, shared some oysters while we perused. The Appalachicola's were delicious and well-priced. The menu had lots of choices, many non-seafood. I had lobster tacos, $14. The tacos were great, loved the many side choices. Only complaint was that the kitchen was slow. The restaurant wasn't really what I would call slammed, but the kitchen didn't seem to be able to keep up. But, the bar was prompt, including the oysters, and we had lots of fun without breaking the bank.

Great place and an unexpected "authentic" oyster bar. Only takes cash but what do you expect of any real place? I had the lobster bisque and it was one of, if not the best I have ever had. The oysters were good and fresh too!

In the land of pretension that is 30A restaurants this one is an excellent exception..Hurricane Oyster Bar is a little off the main road; but it's well known by locals and saavy tourists..by far the past patio..game watching venue..casual seafood joint..and happy hour on the 30A Corridor..also major plusses that the patio is dog friendly and the bar has one of the few decent craft beer menus in the area and they often are rotating their selections..happy hour everyday from 3-6 is the best bargain in the area with half priced appetizers..cheap oysters and numerous crazy good drink specials..last time we were there they were selling 2 dollar pints of Green Flash Hop Head Red..that's a great price anywhere; but here in the land of overpriced restaurants and bars that's phenomenal..love the food here; but it's definitely one of those places where the mantra is KISS(Keep it simple stupid!!)...you order the basics at a fish house such as this...gumbo..fish dip..oysters..shrimp..fish sandwiches..etc either fried..grilled or blackened...don't be ordering some gourmet fish dishes here and then complain it did not meet your lofty expectations...if you want that kind of food go to a place that specializes in it...I have to give a shout out to Hurricane's She Crab Soup when they have it because it's some of the best I have had..the wings are stellar as well as we had both the BBQ and Dave's Insanity Flavors last time we were here..Hurricanes cooks there wings in both the fryer and finishes them on the grill which gives them a unique texture which is delicious..speaking of Dave's Insanity Wings their namesake Dave waited on us last time and he was awesome(ask for him)..he waited on us on a pretty crazy day because we were all celebrating FSU'S destruction of Florida and jawing pretty good with all the Auburn/Alabama Folks who were there for there game and he was having a blast dealing with everyone on the deck and never let a plate or glass get to empty...we only stayed for the first half of their epic game and it's a big regret cause the craziness of those fans in the first half of that game was off the chart.. I can only imagine how the group on the deck was later in the day and the craziness we must have missed.:)....with the way the second half went and the way the game ended I would assume there are still passed out Auburn Fans on the deck and out front in the pond and dazed Bama Fans still wandering down 30A mumbling "why did we kick?"...anyway for those in search of great casual food on 30A..with a solid outdoor deck to sit out on during nice weather..an excellent happy hour with something besides BMC on draft..and no pretension from staff or customers Hurricane's is your spot..would be 5 stars; but my standard one star yelp deduction is imposed for cash only policy...what is it about this stretch of Grayton and Cash Only?(Red Bar as well)

Hidden in a little plaza off of 30-A, I don't think a lot of tourists would see or stop here. Most of the other shops in the plaza were closed on Saturday or vacant. Had dozen of steamed oysters. It was good except there were lots of shell pieces and we had to spit out at least 1-2 times for each oyster consumed. Entree - Fish tacos. These were good. The sauce added a little spice and gave it a good kick. I definitely recommend this!

We stopped here for a late lunch. The service was great, very friendly and helpful with suggestions. For example, the waiter suggested the small crab cakes rather than the large. They were perfectly prepared, served on a bed of spinach and topped with a corn salsa that was a perfect complement. The raw oysters were outstanding(they have their own secret sauce) as were the Oysters Rockefeller. My wife wanted the jumbalaya, but she is trying to be gluten free. The waiter suggested they just leave the rice out and she said it was marvelous. They have "happy hour" every day from 3 to 6 with very attractive prices for drinks and food. Try a Hurricane at The Hurricane!

I always make a trip here for the fish tacos when I'm in town. No they aren't the best in the world but hurricane is a good standby for good food and fun outdoor seating off the beaten path. That said - Busy summer days can see quite a wait and overworked waitstaff thus bring your patience hat and angry birds.

NFL Sunday Direct package if you're looking for an out of town game. Oyster world tour is pretty interesting & the oysters are good & very fresh - sometimes shucked a little rough. All other food I've ordered has just been ok. Service is a little rough - seems like more than a couple of tables at once gives them fits. Last visit we sat for at least 10 minutes before a server would even look at us or take drink orders, then food was also very slow (and eventually served cold). Pretty good drink specials. Nice sitting on the porch outside, but be aware that there's no shade from the sun in the afternoon and it can start to get pretty warm under those tables.

Awesome food and awesome service. The fish tacos were excellent. The 5 to 7 happy hour was also very good. Would highly recommend to anybody in the area.

The raw oyster bar selection was phenomenal. So many flavor varieties. I ordered the crabcake po-boy sandwich for dinner. Very tasty. I recommend the gouda cheese grits as side. There were 4 of us in the party and everyone was happy. Only reason they don't get a 5 is cash only. It's 2013. That's unacceptable. However, they do have an ATM on site, if you don't mind paying a service charge.

Love Hurricane. Go there every time we're in town, often with friends and family who consistently love it too. From peak summer season to fall NFL Sundays, it's always a winner. Low key, good food, fair prices. Love it!

We were on vacation and decided to stop in Hurricane - I wish I lived closer than 12 hours away because I am craving it right now! I had the lobster tacos (YUM) with the gouda cheese grits (DOUBLE YUM). Along with these delectable dishes, I also had a mojito, which was refreshing and tasty. Glad we found this unique spot and I hope to stop by again next time I'm in the Grayton Beach area!

Decent oysters, good crab claws, good service, good oyster poyboy, good prices. A little disorganized. No gumbo at lunch?!

Cash only. This is the place to order fried food, don't try to order something fresh or fancy--the less fancy the better here. Fried pickles were good, oysters were great but otherwise heard mixed reviews from the rest of the table.

Hurricane Oyster Bar & Grill is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The food is always fresh and delicious, the beer cold and refreshing and the service welcoming and inviting. With reasonable prices and hands down the best happy hour in town, I'm always referring and recommending this restaurant whenever I can. Happy hour is from 3-6 7 days a week and boasts $1 draft Amber Bock, Rolling Rock and Bud Light, a fun and cheap appetizer selection and family-friendly atmosphere. Tons of indoor and outdoor TVs for college or NFL game day. As a local, it's easy to brag but don't take my little review for it, check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Good, cheap raw oysters; great grilled fish tacos. Oysters are $11 per dozen during dinner, and $7 per dozen during happy hour (3-6 pm). Happy hour also has dollar domestic drafts, $2 domestic bottlenecks. I had two dozen oysters and a beer for an afternoon snack yesterday, for $20 with tip. By DC standards, that should have cost me double that at least. Grilled fish taco for dinner was impressive. The corn tortilla was semi-firm, with cilantro and tangy sauce inside, and some grilled fresh white-meat fish. It was probably the best fish taco I've ever had, although to be fair, most fish tacos I've had have been terrible.

Raw oysters were luke warm, ice was melted when it got to us, service was friendly, but slow. Long wait. Not worth it for us.

The most underwhelming dining experience I've ever had. From the moment my party of eight and me were greeted by a hostess that looked at us with disgust. (when we were seated one of my mates asked for a beer she seem annoyed and proceeded to tell us she had laryngitis. From then on it only gets worse. Our waiter seemed confused when it was happy hour, so we ordered accordingly. from then on, we ordered our meals and everything seemed fine until we received our checks. we did not receive our "happy hour price" on any of the items we ordered. after a small quarrel with the waiter, we talked to the manager( who was dressed like a casual sports bar patron) that is when he argued with all of us about our checks and all the items that were messed up on each check. Finally, he told us he would go fix the checks and when he brought it back he took a drink off my order (that never even existed) compensated for nothing. He deducted $1.00 from my friends order! To top it all off when we were leaving the laryngitis ridden hostess nonchalantly told us to "get the f*** out of my way before I beat in your face" What a piece; I hope no one ever has to experience that, when they are spending top dollar for vacation spot, mediocre, dining.

Overpriced. Oysters were loaded with bits of shells. Fries were cold. I've had better.
